Singular and plural:

by adding -s:

Most singular nouns form the plural by adding S.

Examples:
cat-cats.
river-rivers.
Fan-Fans.

By adding es:

A singular noun ending in s, x, z, ch, sh makes the plural by adding-es.

Examples:
bus-buses.
wish-wishes.
Match-Matches.
box-boxes.

By adding ies:

A singular noun ending in a consonant and then y makes the plural by dropping the y and adding-ies.

Examples:
baby-babies
Spy-spies.

Irregular nouns:

There will be no connection between the singular and plural. These are called irregular nouns.

Examples:
Man-men.
woman women.
child children.
person-people.
leaf-leaves.
wife-wives.
